About Me

I started my career as a Software Engineer. After 9 years of coding and bugs, I decided to go back to school and learn a profession that harkens back to my youth when I would draw and letter on whatever blank piece of paper I could find while dreaming of becoming a comic-book artist. Learning how to be a graphic designer and by extension a production artist has provided me a productive, useful and creative second career.

Work

Green Dot Corporation

Senior Production Artist • August 2016 - Present

Responsible for production of all print projects from the design team. This includes multiple card packages and plastics that use exotic coatings and materials, display signage that require custom dielines and other collateral ranging from ads to mailers. Also creating digital assets such as banners and social media posts to support the company’s online presence. Attending press checks to ensure the highest quality and mentoring new team members were part of my duties.

National Fitness Productions

Graphic Designer • September 2011 - Present

Design and produce all marketing materials such as ads, brochures, mailers, etc. as well as all signage for four fitness conventions held in California. Enhancing the company’s social media presence by creating digital assets and maintaining the company website.

Skills

Like any accomplished graphic designer and/or production artist I am well-versed in the big three: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. My first career helps me on the digital side when handling HTML and CSS on websites or the ubiquitous Wordpress installation. I don't pretend to know it all but I do have a desire to know it all. I think my best skill is my ability to pick things up quick and willingness to learn.
